Land Rover Defender is a vehicle with a history. Previous generation was seriously modernized and rethought version of original Land Rover from 1948. So it was complicated goal to design brand new Defender of 21st century. How did they do it – you will decide it by your wallet. Anyway, beside brand new Land Rover Defender 110 we will talk else about its tuning.
Usually manufacturers make a new generation in a actual brand’s design and most part of models have similar design elements. It’s about, for example, Mercedes-Benz. If you are not fan of Mercedes often you can understand is it C-Class, E-Class or S-Class only understanding the real car’s size. And even in this case you wouldn’t be sure. Or new model can have some elements of previous model’s design. For example, like Volkswagen Golf. But looking at the brand new Land Rover you don’t feel any connection. Nothing. Just new model with old name.
Actually, new Land Rover Defender started in 2 versions: short 3-door “90” and long 5-door “110” (like this one bronze SUV). And now we got else longer model “130”. I guess this is a great idea. One model, 3 versions with different length. 3 SUV for smaller budget. It’s profitable for manufacturer. But I guess most part of customers would buy the middle version.
By the way, this is not at first Land Rover makes vehicles with different length. Range Rover is available with 2 lengths and most part of people even don’t know about it.
I guess it is a time to talk about Land Rover Defender 110 and its tuning. At this moment this SUV is available on the market a few years. Defender got else longer version. Model is popular, even being significantly expensive. And I guess Defender got into a situation like some BMW X5. This is fresh and not cheap vehicle, most part of these SUV are leased or in credit, vehicles still are on warranty. So people just drive them without wasting of money. But X5 is BMW and BMW fan boys are modifying even new expensive cars. Land Rover has fan boys, but they are another people. That’s why I have not seen a significantly modified Land Rover Defender 110, 90 or 130.
But it doesn’t mean that people drive absolutely stock Land Rovers. Some Defenders are modified, but it’s mostly not serious mods like wheels or wrapping. New cool wheels can change feeling of the vehicle and its styling. New color can make a car more unique. Sometimes it is important to be unique. But you can back stock wheels and remove vinyl film and return your vehicle to dealer.
This Land Rover Defender 110 has not so significant but cool tuning, or styling if you want. All design is built on a couple of colors: bronze and black. They fit to each other. Bronze body looks great with black trim, pillars, roof, wheels and tinted windows. I usually say that it’s a mistake to install black wheels. But black wheels with aggressive AT tyres are looking great here.
I’ve said that brand new Defender doesn’t has anything similar with previous generation or another Land Rover’s models. But probably from this view Defender looks close to predecessor. From all other sides this is absolutely new model.
